Kuching Post Office (1931)

The Kuching Post Office is another landmark, the building was built in 1931 built in the middle of Kuching City.

The design is an imposing Neo-Classical with Corinthian columns.

The front of this building features round towers and giant pillar. The wall is decorated with intricate carvings.

I notice one Brooke emblem of a badger and the motto ‘
Dum Spiro Spero” means While I live, I hope .

The building was designed by Denis Santry of Messrs Swan and Macleran, an architecture firm in Singapore

I love old buildings! I love the fact that years ago, people have left their mark on them be it a small scratch or a grafitti. Most modern buildings reminds me of sterile hospitals and I don't like hospitals.
