I was browsing through my 2002 New Zealand travel photos yesterday and I manage to capture Christ Church Cathedral in my last trip. Not much photos of the Cathedral taken as it only random pictures picture taking that time.
The cathedral damaged and several surrounding buildings in ruins on 22 February 2011 6.3-magnitude earthquake.
The 130-year-old spire was completely destroyed, leaving only the lower half of the tower standing. While the walls and roof of the cathedral itself remained mostly intact, the gable of the west front sustained damage, and the roof over the western section of the north aisle, nearest the tower, collapsed.

poor thing, a historical building destroyed just like that, sigh...so sad

So many places havin riots & floods..NZ constantly having aftershocks.. :O
I haven't been to new Zealand.. :S
blame the human for their selfish action and causing earthquake
dont know what the world is turning into. So many things happening. The crazy weater we are having and etc
And it's not even 2012 yet!
people in Christchurch have to consider the option of moving .. as the possibility of after shocks r high. a terrible tragedy for Christchurch to b sited there
